Key Processes in Integrated Circuit Packaging: From Wafer to Finished Chip

Date:2026-10-16 Categories:Product knowledge Hits:221 From:Guangdong Youfeng Microelectronics Co., Ltd

The fabrication process of integrated circuits is a complex and meticulous task, encompassing multiple steps from wafer to finished chips. This process involves stringent quality control and precise techniques.

First, we start with the wafer. The wafer serves as the foundation for integrated circuit production and is typically made from silicon or other semiconductor materials. The wafer fabrication process includes crystal growth, cutting, and polishing. These steps must be carried out in a highly controlled environment to ensure the quality and purity of the wafer.

After the wafer is fabricated, the next step is to create circuit patterns on it. This process is called photolithography. During photolithography, a photosensitive material known as photoresist is applied to the wafer. Then, a special photolithography machine is used to project the circuit patterns onto the photoresist. After a series of chemical treatments, the circuit patterns are etched onto the wafer.  diode
