Design of Ferrite Core Filter Inductor

DesignofChokeUsingIronPowderCores

Abstract

The design of filtering inductors (chokes) must take into account the effects of DC magnetization. Powdered iron cores have high saturation magnetic flux density, are less affected by DC magnetization, and are cost-effective, making them an ideal material. Three design methods for chokes are introduced.diode

1 Introduction

Common filter inductors include: common-mode filter inductors, differential-mode filter inductors, and rectifier filter inductors. The first two types are primarily used in various line filters and operate under AC conditions. The latter is employed to filter out the AC ripple after rectification, making the DC component more stable. Since it operates under DC conditions, the impact of DC magnetization on the inductor must be considered.diode
